Artwork title – ‘Transience’
This work explores the fleeting nature of time. It focuses on the 1990s, the final decade of the 20th century leading into the 21st. The floating objects evoke a dream-like recollection of the past. They reflect the beginnings of the shift from analogue to digital technology which reshaped how we live and connect. The depiction of Kurt Cobain speaks to this idea of transience. Although his life was short, he became one of the decade’s most influential figures in music. His rapid rise to fame and the technological changes of the era capture the accelerating pace that began in the 90s and continues to shape our lives today
